In April 2026, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs issued a consultation on proposed changes to the Habitats Regulations Assessment Guidance. The purpose was to streamline the assessment process.  LCNR responded with concerns that the changes would lead to decisions that would undermine protections for nature, and suggested amendments that would mitigate these risks.
