Oxford’s New Nature Festival Celebrates Biodiversity, Community and Environmental Action.
Oxford’s Nature Festival will bring together researchers, artists, community groups, environmental organisations and families for a week of public events celebrating nature, biodiversity and environmental action across Oxfordshire. Events will run from 21–27 June 2026, culminating in a free, full-day festival at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History on Saturday, 27 June.
The Festival is being developed as a collaborative, volunteer-led initiative designed to showcase the wide range of nature-related work already taking place across Oxford and Oxfordshire. Organisers hope the event will create new connections between researchers, local nature groups, cultural organisations and the public, while making nature more accessible to wider audiences.
Visitors can expect a varied programme including short talks, films, interactive “show-and-tell” activities, community stalls, workshops, walks and creative contributions inspired by nature. Activities will be aimed at adults, families and young people, with an emphasis on accessibility, participation and public engagement.
We are grateful to the Oxford University Museum of Natural History, which is hosting the day-long Festival as a core partner. In addition, satellite events and activities have been programmed across Oxford, both during the Festival week, and on the Festival day itself.
The 2026 event is intended as a pilot for what organisers hope will become a larger, annual programme in future years.
Media opportunities will include interviews with organisers, researchers, artists and community groups, along with visual activities, exhibitions and public engagement events throughout the Festival.
