Lea May Anderson

Lea is a DPhil candidate in the School of Geography and the Environment’s Environmental Change Institute, conducting critical social science research on the relationship between cooperative property regimes and nature recovery. Lea’s current research explores how Scottish community landownership reshapes access to and control over rural land management, and how this mode of governance interacts with national nature recovery policy.

Beyond their doctoral work, Lea is interested in how knowledge is produced and mobilized within sustainability science. Related work has included developing cross-sectoral guidance for enhancing the relevance and accessibility of people-and-nature research for policy, and an internship with The Nature Conservancy in which Lea explored how knowledge cultures shape the organisation’s research and monitoring practices.
