Phoebe is an environmental and societal futures analyst and sustainability strategist, global change ecologist, biodiversity conservation biologist, climate risk and resilience specialist, policy wonk and film co-producer. She works at the intersection of science, society, sustainability, policy, planning and media storytelling.
She is an affiliate full professor at the University of Washington (UW); senior strategic consultant and affiliated researcher at the Stockholm Environment Institute – Oxford Centre; cofounder and co-convenor of the Global Restoration Collaborative, a bridge-building coalition of previously siloed global networks; lead convener of several top global crack teams on government and societal preparedness for the future and financial flows for a civilitational transition; and an honorary research associate at both the University of Cape Town’s FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology and its African Climate and Development Initiative.
Phoebe is a also an active core team member of the Ecological Civilization Coalition and its narratives work; a member of the Club of Rome’s Planetary Emergency Partnership; and other initiatives in the global futures, civilization-shift, climate repair and biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration spaces. She is an ardent mentor of, and leadership coach for young professionals, especially women from global majority countries, and works with her husband, veteran film director-producer John Bowey, on documentaries and news magazine series on these themes.
